Lisa Jewell is the best-selling author of more than twenty novels. She has become one of my favorite writers, and I’ve been churning through her books so quickly that I honestly hope she starts writing faster.

So let’s talk about character voice in Lisa Jewell’s novel, Then She Was Gone.

So character voice is undoubtedly important. But wait, how do you do it? Well, let’s take a peek at my good friend who doesn’t know I exist, Lisa Jewell.

Before we get into it…a bit of a disclaimer here: there are LOTS of ways to develop character voice. So even if I knew all the different ways to build narrative voice into a book (which I don’t–not sure anyone does) I still wouldn’t be able to do it in a short article like this.
