First impressions made it through the half shut
door. You feel the burning eye scanning your
skin. Like a sandwich with too much mustard.
The gnaw marks have you worried. Passing tests
and hoping. Your heart hangs out boldly on
your sleeve. I didn’t come here to hide. This
is an honest investigation. We
can talk here. Working at a house of cards.
Deck thins until the aperture opens.
The faithful view collapses our attempt.
Ambition that never should have been
ends our childhood games.
