May honesty be my shield

Last week was not pretty.

Scene 1: This could not be the reason.

Anyone could have a bad hair day, although what had happened to me was nothing comparing to climate change, but, I’m selfish enough to say that, one crazy week had truly shaken my world! I felt small as I made a promise that I didn’t realize until much later that I could not deliver. But it was Friday and I knew that I needed to stop this series of self-reprimand before I could use them as an excuse to stuff myself with french fries and ice-cream. So what should I do?

Scene 2: All I’ve gotta do is ASK?

“It’s spinning out of control, so stop acting like everything is cool and start asking for HELP!” A little voice was whispering in my ears, so instead of running around pretending like everything was normal, I looked to my left and right, made eye-contact, and started asking for help.

Yes, my ego balloon was deflated when I had to admit that I bit more than I can chew.

Yes, asking for help could potentially make me look incompetent.

But if that was all it took to get me out of this messy situation, why not? Shit happened, it stank until someone or something cleaned that up, and blew the smoke out of the water. If nothing stays forever anyway, why not swallowing a small defeat, to later enjoy the victory of fixed problems. Use the plan B, because it was there to learn and do better next time.

Asking for help may seem like I let my guard down and opened my chest for the attack, in fact, I raised my guard up. Because if my work was saved, so as some of my flesh and bones. Besides, I got to understand my limitations and the capability of my resources. I now knew what I didn’t know, and wasn’t that precious?
