My Programming Experience As A Beginner

When I started coding a few months ago I felt like programming was tough like a navy seal. I really struggled with getting the tags right and the codes to work. I got to a point where I almost gave up on coding but as one of my friend said: “coding requires patient and persistent”. So I just decided to stay positive, work hard and do my best to keep going and not to give up.

There is no harm in trying again when you fail…

Since am a lover of art and creating things I took programming as an art. I liked the satisfaction that comes with creating new websites and seeing the sites work as expected. So I joined a #100daysofcode to help me improve my coding skills. I would code every day without fail to date. This has helped grow my coding skills. I would say that am not where I was when I started coding. I am now more familiar with programming commands and keyboard shortcuts.Programming is easy if one is patient, persistent and this is because the behavior of the machine is perfectly predictable. It is not as difficult as most people think or say. Once a programmer absorbs the methods of programming plus the experience one gets, programming becomes very easy.
Let me share ways on which one can improve on their coding skills from my experience:
Choose a language you enjoy learning most. I started with JavaScript when I started coding because it was so much fun for me to create websites. This motivated me to want to learn other programming languages like Python.
Practice, practice, practice by working on projects and coding every day without fail, making it a daily habit.
Get someone you look up to as a mentor - it is easy to get lost once you start your programming journey. So it is always recommended to look for someone who has been in the programming field for a while/someone with more experience. Someone who is going to guide you as you start your programming journey.
Learn by doing-watching YouTube tutorials and reading online resources will not magically make you a good programmer, one learns more and better by getting their ‘hands dirty’ and doing practical practice.
Practice at least 10 ways to improve your code each time you work on projects.
Collaborate-join a community, hang out with like-minded people who are going to help in your growth. Collaboration is very important for one to grow their skills in programming.
Stay positive, motivated and always ready to learn new things.
Share your code on programming platforms for review-always work on the feedback you get from other developers.
Last but not least, remember that: you own your own(YOYO)learning, when faced with blockers before asking for help do some research, go online and look for resources or watch videos that way you learn more as you work your way through the programming concepts.
