The rich parent of nationalism

What happens if you make 100 people believe that success is only proportional to hard work? This:

accuracy diagram : success x number of persons.

What this ultra-scientific projection shows is why nationalism is not a child that came out of nowhere but the quintessence of barbaric capitalism and liberalism. Out of these 100 people, one will be extremely successful (e.g. Elon Musk), two a little less so, etc. And soon you will end up with a minority who worked hard and therefore succeeded and a big bunch of lazy people who did nothing all day. On all the TV channels, anyone can see the work done by these Elon Musk who have to think for hours in order to choose the right color for the leather of the future cars. If poor people only knew the subtle art of leather, maybe they wouldn’t be here… Or not.

The problem with a belief is side effects, and this one simply has the side effect of nationalism, or worse.

Because if in all the newspapers, Elon Musk’s work is embellished, thanks to cherry picking or simply to the survivor bias, it is enough to put oneself in the shoes of the 90 people whose success did not come, to understand where the extremist votes come from. Because they too work and even more. Hours and hours of standing, squatting, carrying things. We told them that if they worked a lot, success would come, but it is clear that success is absent from everything. Worse, We asked to understand the market, to adapt, to wear a suit and to go and present themselves. And the worst thing is that they did it, but nothing came: no glory, no success, no prosperity.

So when these little people see on TV that some people are gorging themselves in the name of hard work based on a sacrosanct maxim, but that they themselves know that they work as hard as these rich people, there are no 36 perspectives to explain: “why Elon and not them”: these people are cheating in one way or another. In short, the problem is them. And there begins the nationalism.

More than that, the big groups themselves know this and are pushing for it. Who comes out on top in the 4 years of Trump in America: the GAFAMs (plus twitter, etc.) and there is no more capitalist than these 5, so let’s look further. Why are large corporations willing to manipulate entire populations to get extremists in power? Simply because it is more profitable. IBM made money by doing morbid logistics, Coca-Cola was discussing trade deals before Pearl Harbor even happened, others followed.

The Hitlers, the Trumps and the Lepens are inward-looking people who base their ideology and their decisions mainly on beliefs (which is called “instinct” when you are a good politician), and it is easier to make money with jerks than with enlightened people.

Big business will always promote individualism by destroying any system of protectionism, because capitalism is the breeding ground for nationalism, whose stock in trade is juicy beliefs for business.

And no, success is not proportional to work. Far from it.
