My story

How I got into this mess and plan to grow from it.

As a new father with an almost four-month-old, I made a choice back when I realized my partner was pregnant. That choice was to be the best father I could be. I want to be the father I never had.

Growing up I wanted nothing more than to be like my father. Only to realize after my parents got a divorce that my father was kind of a deadbeat. The story is always the same just like everyone else's. This isn’t for pity. This is just to help you understand what driving force I have to be better than my father.

I had already made up my mind before I got with my current partner that I would be a better father than I had. Not to say that my stepdad didn’t do his best. I just want to be better than all the male figures I had in my life.

So this idea came about due to my wanting a better life for my partner and for my little one. I dove in headfirst into this to understand money in ways I was never taught as a kid. I dove so deep that it lead me to economics and personal finance on a level that I never thought possible. I work a normal job all while doing my best to save and invest in things that I believe are worth it. From stocks to crypto and other investments that I can invest in with the amount of money that I save every month.

Personally, I know how hard it really is to save money. Especially with a little one. They have a lot of needs from diapers and wipes to clothing every few months. Thankfully I am not having to buy much of our food. Due to help from WIC and Snap. Those two things are the reason why I am able to provide for my partner and child the way I do.

Understanding how to manage a budget and finding out how much I spend each month gives me the ability to save on the side. Yeah, I know it seems dumb and easy but it is how I was able to save up two thousand dollars in a matter of six months so that we could afford everything for our little one, and a TV for us.

I was never very good at managing funds before this. I was actually really bad at it. I use to barely make rent and the rest of the bills because I would spend a lot of my money on stupid things. Being single you tend to do that unless you were taught how to spend money.

I was never taught that money could be a tool. Instead, I was taught what every poor person was taught. Money is the root of all evil. Which is a flat-out lie. Money is a tool to use to get you from point a to point b just like your car. If used right it can be something that can make your life easier.

Everyone is going on about ChatGPT and how it is something that can help you make fast money. The issue is that everyone wants fast money and isn’t willing to put in the work to make the money. Instead, they want to just have it grow on trees. I would love it if it did but sadly it doesn’t

The money we have is controlled by the F.E.D. or the Federal Reserve which is a central bank that controls if our money is worth more or less due to inflation. Which hits harder right now. Interest rates have been all over the place and supply shortages have been hitting our local grocery stores and markets as if we are going through COVID again.

Then to top that all off we have economists and leaders of hedge funds and other giant companies saying that there is another recession or financial crisis coming. So what do we do? Who do we believe? Is the US dollar the strongest it has ever been or will the B.R.I.C.’s countries create a new world reserve currency to topple the dollar?

Whatever ends up coming down the pipeline though. I know this for certain, money makes the world go round. Everyone needs it. Everyone fights for it, and it will never stop being created.

So, if you are interested in economics, finance, or just some polymath spouting nonsense. Then maybe you would like to hear what I have to say because I am not going to stop. I am on this path and this car ain't out of gas yet, so I will keep on chugging along. Heck even if this car runs out of gas I might just convert it to run on alcohol.
